This guide combines expert preparation with our signature Bottom-Up Technique and Zigzag Application to ensure a flawless, salon-quality tan at home.

Phase 1: Prep for Perfection

A professional tan is only as good as the canvas beneath it.

• Exfoliate: Use a sugar or salt-based scrub 24 hours before (or the day of) your application to create a smooth, uniform surface.
• The "Oil-Free" Rule: Avoid oil-heavy scrubs or foaming shower gels. These leave a residue that acts as a "blocker," preventing the mist from penetrating.
• Create a Barrier: Apply a thin layer of oil-free lotion to hands, feet, and dry patches (heels, knees, elbows). This prevents these areas from over-absorbing the mist.

Phase 2: The Bottom-Up Technique

Applying in sections prevents the product from creasing as you move.

1. Lower Body & Mid-Section

• The Flow: Begin at the ankles. Hold the mist 6–8 inches away and move upward in a tight zigzag motion.
• The Wrap: Sweep the mist around the sides of your torso and hips to ensure the transition from front to back is seamless.
• Back Coverage: If using a tanning strap, mist the center of the strap and use a "sawing" motion across the middle and upper back.
• Set the Base: Use a blow dryer on a cool setting for 30 seconds to set the lower half before moving upward.

2. Upper Body & Arms

• Chest & Decolletage: Start at the base of the bust and work toward the collarbones in broad, sweeping motions.
• The Shoulders: Sweep the mist over the curve of your shoulder to meet your back application.
• Arms: Start at the shoulder and zigzag down to the wrist. Use a lighter "dusting" on the inner arms, as this skin absorbs product faster.

Phase 3: Face, Hands & Feet (The Detail Work)

Precision is key for these high-visibility areas.

• The Face (The Zigzag Method): Hold the mist 6–8 inches away. Starting at the forehead, move in a tight zigzag motion down to the neck. Pro-Tip: Two light passes are always better than one heavy pass.
• The Hands: Shape your hand into a "claw" to open the knuckles. Hold the mist 10–12 inches away and apply a quick, light "dusting."
• The Feet: Point your feet outward and apply a light dusting from 12 inches away, blending carefully into the ankle line.
• The Buff: Use a fluffy kabuki brush or dry cloth to lightly buff the hairline, ears, and wrists immediately after spraying to remove excess particles.

The Professional Finish (Do Not Skip!)

• The "No-Fly Zone": Avoid applying directly to armpits. Simply buff the edges of the area with a dry cloth for a natural blend.
• Crease Check: Tilt your head back and gently dab (don't rub) any neck lines with a rolled dry cloth to prevent the mist from settling.
• The T-Pose Set: Stand in a "T-pose" and use a cool blow dryer for 60 seconds, focusing on inner elbows and under the bust.

Clean the Details: Thoroughly wipe your palms, nails, and cuticles with a damp cloth to remove any "caramel" overspray.
